It can also include psychological health which includes general well-being and motivation. It is the absence of disease or health issues that prevent from flourishing in society. The presence of these symptoms may signal the presence of serious physical illness or disease which need immediate medical attention. This definition of mental wellness includes aspects such as the physical illness and its treatment, sleep quality and quantity, social support and the cognitive skills related to concentration, memory, mood, intellect, imagination, creativity, decision making and problem solving.

Physical health refers to health that is obtained from a healthy diet, regular exercise, cessation of smoking and avoidance of the risk factors associated with physical illness. A healthy diet is essential in the maintenance of good physical health. Regular exercise helps keep the body moving which allows it to get rid of wastes that accumulate over time. Smoking and the use of tobacco products contribute to the risk of contracting a physical illness or disease. Excess alcohol consumption can also contribute to the absence of physical health.

Spiritual health is an aspect of mental well being that considers ones connection with God and helps cope with situations that have spiritual effects on ones life. People who have spiritual beliefs and practices are less likely to contract illnesses and physical diseases. A spiritual mindset means a person is able to look at problems from a different perspective and come up with innovative answers. Illness and the absence of physical health could be a sign of a problematic spiritual situation that needs to be resolved.
