What Is Fitness?

Fitness is a state of good health and well being and, in particular, the capability to do physically demanding tasks, jobs and sports. Fitness is usually achieved through adequate rest, appropriate diet, and proper physical activity. Fitness should be balanced with discipline and patience and it is important that the goals of your fitness program are realistic. The term fitness actually encompasses several aspects and not just one. Below is a general definition of the various aspects of fitness:

Cardiovascular: This is the primary goal of fitness and it involves the heart and lung function. Cardiovascular activities are cardio-vascular (cardio-vascular exercises), aerobic (low-intensity), strength (endurance) and flexibility (flexibility). Activities such as walking, jogging, swimming, bicycling, swimming, dancing, weight training, martial arts, aerobics, rock climbing and walking can all increase cardiovascular function.

Flexibility: This requires that the muscles of the body can be stretched beyond the limits where they were originally formed. These muscles include the ligaments, tendons, muscles and ligament attachments in the joints. A variety of exercises for flexibility include stretching, soft-tissue work, and exercise balls. In order to achieve a balanced workout routine, it is important to perform several forms of flexibility exercises.

Balance: This aims to correct any imbalances in the body, such as an improperly functioning heart or a bone-overheating lower extremity. Balance exercises can be done in the home or at the gym. Common balance exercises are balance bridges, balancing on one leg, balancing on one foot, jumping, hopping, hanging, balancing on one foot while balancing on another leg and balancing on one leg while standing on one leg. Balance exercises can also be done indoors with a special balance board.

Muscle Strength: This includes increasing muscle power, endurance, muscle endurance and strength. Muscles need to be exercised to maintain a healthy life. Muscles also have a specific amount of fatigue that needs to be repaired after being used. Muscle strengthening can be done with a combination of strength and resistance training or weight training, or even by doing more strenuous exercises such as yoga.

The definition of fitness varies from person to person, but it can be found as a starting point for any exercise and fitness program. The key thing to remember is to maintain a balance in your fitness goals by maintaining consistency.

To build a good balance in your fitness goals, it is important to choose an activity that you enjoy, and which provides a sense of challenge or can improve your overall health. Also, choose a fitness activity that will allow you to gain balance, flexibility and endurance, and help you build your immunity. Finally, decide what type of fitness activity will best fit your needs and lifestyle.

Remember that healthy living is about more than just staying healthy. It’s about enjoying life and living it to the fullest.
